Do what you love and do it well

Monday, June 27th, 2005

If this is your first time here, please consider subscribing by
RSS or by email. Thanks for visiting!

I started my business in 1997 as a freelance HTML programmer. I’d programmed websites in college before working for an architecture firm. After a few months, I realized life was too short not to be doing what I love to do.

I provide website services such as designing, programming and marketing websites. My customer base are small businesses, more of which are growing small businesses headed by women who are 30-40 years old, who now realize that they need a web presence to bring in business and stay competitive.

After working with so many people and with their existing websites, I realized that it wasn’t about just creating websites; it was about taking websites to the next level. Hence the name “nextSTEPH” was established in 2004. Since then, my clients have become my sales team. They say “Take your website to the nextSTEPH”, and they bring in prospective clients.

Do what you love and do it well. When you do a good job and people are aware if it, they suddenly turn into your best salespeople. I have gotten most of my clients via word of mouth because of the work that I had done with just one site.

Yahoo “Sells” Chocolate Milk

Saturday, June 25th, 2005

Yahoo sells chocolate milk?
I know this kind of topic is the type that I would not include in here, however, this was just too “sweet” to pass up. Shopping in the local New York City supermarket, I found the sign selling “Yahoo” chocolate milk. It was actually Yoo-hoo chocolate milk. Thank goodness its not a permanent sign or else the trademark police would have been on the case.

What’s Nu Section Turns into a Blog

Thursday, June 16th, 2005

The What’s Nu Section of Delta Phi Epsilon, has turned into a blog. My goal in doing this is to make it easier for staff members to post press releases and the like to the website, leaving me and the volunteer web staff free to do development work.

I can’t register on websites because of my last name

Monday, June 13th, 2005

That’s right folks, I can’t register on certain websites or send e-mail from the sites because of my last name. Its not like I can CHANGE the name. I was born with it. Although, we appeciate the filters put in place to protect all from unsuitable language, there is nothing I can do about my name. I had a few run-ins with websites, including my cell phone company and an online class. The boiling point was when I didn’t consider a job offer from a company because I could not register on their website, due to my last name.

I have no plans to change my name, or to get married anytime soon. My name is my career.

Does anyone out there has frustrating experiences online? Give a shot-out and comment.
