Should your personal blog be separate from your business blog?

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

While I have been somewhat “on hiatus” in Florida. I have been surfing online discovering people that have both business and personal blogs. I actually tried having a personal blog, both on Blogger and Wordpress.com, but due to reasons previously stated, decided to roll it up all in one.

By the way, if you are looking for my personal posts, they can be found under the “unWired” category.

Let me know if you have a personal blog or not. Feel free to elaborate in the comments.

How to sew the pieces back together after a blog migration or consolidation

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

In the last post, I talked about consolidating back my blog posts on my newer site back to my old reliable one.

I did manage to get all the blog posts back, but what happens after the fact when it concerns your visitors.

Turns out you are not done, but if you think about it, you are never really done when it comes to a website. Continue reading How to sew the pieces back together after a blog migration or consolidation

When it is OK to consolidate blogs

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

As we know there are a lot of changes going on all around us and it seems like mergers and the like are all the rage. Personally, the revelation came to me while I was doing draft posts for this blog. I nearly had a nervous fit trying to figure out which blog to post to. How was I supposed to remember what I posted on this blog as opposed to another blog? Where I was going to find the time to write, edit and post? Continue reading When it is OK to consolidate blogs

From Custom Sidebar to Widgeted Sidebar

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

For the past couple of nights, I have been working on my own blog transformation. Transforming my sidebars from custom to widgetized.

My goal was to make the blog easier to manage. I admit I was a bit intimated. My mind has been pre-occupied with this for months ever since  Wordpress 2.5 came up. Continue reading From Custom Sidebar to Widgeted Sidebar

WordCamp NY recap

Monday, October 6th, 2008

I don’t get the chance to get out that often, but when I do, it’s almost always work related. Yesterday was not any different as I attended Wordcamp NY.

Matt Mullenweig, the Keynote speaker spoke to the gathered about what to expect in the upcoming months regarding Wordpress. He also mentions some well known names who are using the blogging platform.

Aaron Brazell of Technosailor, very appropriately summed it all up that its up to the people to determine there experience with the brand.

Jeremy Clarke explained the ins, outs and everything needed in the developer’s toolbox to run and maintain a blog network. One of the things that he emphasized was being clear about the goals from the beginning which can save a ton of time in the long run.

More recap is coming. Its a very busy conference week in the city. In the meantime, follow me on Twitter or del.icio.us.
