Award Winning Poet

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Who would of imagined that I could add “Award Winning Poet” to my resume. The Editors at Poetry.com have decided to give me the “Editor’s Choice Award” for my poem about the New York City Transit Strike in December.

A City Halt Calling
‘Twas the night before the strike
and all through the city
New Yorkers were in a fright
It was such a pity

It would never be the same
early in the morning
for the dawn came
a city halt was calling

Communters were scared
wondering how to get to and from
If the buses and train would not be there
they had to make some effort to come

Some had a plan
whether or not to brave a freezing day
While others took a stand
Most wish this nightmare would go away

Measuring Success, Media Post’s Media Daily News

My letter to the editor “Measuring Success” was published today in Media Post’s Media Daily News: Section Three.

RE: P&G Exec: Online Industry Needs Uniform Measurement System

In my opinion, it will still take a while before an online “standard” for measurement will be adopted and accepted. It has been up to Web sites to determine which ways are effective in reaching their audience and how to analyze their traffic. Therefore, Web sites need to continue to determine how they measure success in their own terms.

Will Web Site Analysis Reports Remain Unbiased?: Media Post’s Media Daily News: Section Three

Friday, April 1st, 2005

My letter to the editor “Will Web Site Analysis Reports Remain Unbiased?” was published today in Media Post’s Media Daily News: Section Three.

RE: WebTrends Gains Independence From NetIQ (MDN, 3/29)

Isn’t it ironic that both Webtrends and Urchin announce their deals on the same day? Since Urchin is going to be acquired by Google and Webtrends will be under a private equity company, it makes me (and many others) wonder if Web site analysis reports will continue to give detailed unbiased referral information or if Google will use this new relationship to increase its traffic and control in the online arena, not that they need help in that department.
