Even though I have been a professional in Higher Education for some time now, it is always good to step out of my routine and see how other institutions do things.
On a trip last summer, I has honored to see one of my good friends receive their degree. The ceremony on that campus was referred to as commencement.
However, among students and other colleges, it is more commonly know as graduation.
There is a clear and distinct difference between the two as one university has pointed out.
Some explanations have been that it is based on tradition while others say that it better to use the more common term to bring the point across.
So, how does your institution convey commencement and/or graduation ceremonies?
