Word before WordPress Equals Worry

When will people learn?

No matter how many blogs I tweak and go under the hood of, there is one main thing than makes me scream…

An indication that the person used Microsoft Word (or another text editor) and directly copied and pasted the document into a WordPress blog yields extraneous characters in the text.

This is not good because Word puts extra code in your blog, which in turn affects how the search engines crawl the website, which in turn affects search engine rankings (enter scream!)

For instance, would you want to wear a wool coat in 80 degree weather?

The best way to get the code off is to copy and paste into a text editor, remove the extraneous code and then copy into WordPress.
