Grieving on the college campus

Autumn on a college campus typically means students, faculty and staff  finally getting back in gear from  summer recess.  In recent years, getting back into the swing of things has taken on a new meaning.

Now more than ever, colleges  and universities  have been under strain especially from current events. When stories come out in terms of safety and security, people cannot help but be put on edge at the place where safety is often taken for granted.

Its always during a time of crisis that the college community comes together.  Now is also the time for compassion and courage. The college community is the family that is far away from home or across town.

This past week, we all became part of the college community.
