Disclosure: As of the date of this post, I am a Sprint Customer. I have a few months left on my contract and am examining my options for my next mobile device.
be still.
This is the advice that my Mom used to say.
Now, her words come to me as I am on the verge of doing something important…
selecting my next mobile device.
The countdown is on.
There has been no shortage of advice as to what phone to get. There’s the iPhone camp who has been really jubilant since the Verizon news.
Also with things like Damn You, Autocorrect!: Awesomely Embarrassing Text Messages You Didn’t Mean to Send scares me about the iPhone. Imagine texting and people getting the wrong impression. Yikes!
Android is slowly but surely getting there with the apps, but there is concern about the Evo Shift battery life. Android also has it fans as well.
Even though I currently have a Blackberry for calling, it came in 3rd for app availability. There’s no telling what if anything Blackberry’s going to do. A lot can happen in a few months.
In the meantime, I have been gathering my ducks in a row by doing a spreadsheet. I’m comparing the different phones to the type of apps that I currently use on both the iPod Touch and the Blackberry. So far, I haven’t come to a decision, but the process so far has helped me to audit what apps are necessary vs. the ones I can let go.
Or I may just toss everything and go to a “Pay as you go” and get a old school phone and use the iPod Touch as a pure PDA. It’ll be like back to the future with the Palm and the stand-alone phone.
When all is said and done. I guess it is best to stay right where you are. After all, I already have the iPod Touch. If I need a “iPhone” fix, I can go to it. When its time to get serious, well, we just have to wait and see.
